What Think Big Technology LLC ("YardTalk", "we") collects, why, and who can see it.

What we collect

  • Family accounts: your email address, a hashed password, and the register numbers of the people in custody you support.
  • Texting: your mobile number, your consent choices (opt-in, STOP, block), and the text messages relayed between you and the person in custody.
  • Payments: the amount and status of each payment. Card details are handled by our payment processor, Stripe; we never see or store your card number.

How we use it

Only to run the service: deliver messages you agreed to receive, keep balances, honor STOP and block requests, keep a record of consent, prevent abuse, and answer support requests.

Who can see your messages

Messages to and from a person in federal custody pass through the Bureau of Prisons' monitored email system. Prison staff can read and keep them. They are not private and not legally privileged. Do not send anything you would not want staff to read.

Text messaging (SMS)

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. We do not sell personal information.

We use service providers only to operate the service (for example, our SMS carrier to deliver texts and Stripe to process payments), and they may use the information only for that purpose.

Keeping and deleting data

We keep consent and block records as long as needed to honor them, and other records only as long as needed to run the service and meet legal obligations. To ask what we hold about you, or to delete it, contact us.
